Research Experience for Teachers (RET) Program
Develop your skills as a researcher in our summer program at Purdue University, where you will explore how a wide range of energy sources serve the needs of people, communities, and our changing world and create lessons for your classroom.
Program Goals
- To provide middle school teachers with a background and first-hand experience in the design, methods, and analysis of engineering-related research.
- To reinforce the value of incorporating scientific inquiry in the context of their school STEM curricula.
- To provide teachers with the tools, experiences, and ongoing relationships with career scientists, engineering, and fellow teachers that will enable them to share with their students the latest developments in STEM fields and inspire their students with a desire to learn more about science and engineering and their related career paths.
Program Details:
- 1 Week Online training and background reading
- 4 Weeks (June 4 - July 3) Work on research projects and classroom lessons on energy at Purdue University, learn about EPICS K12
Eligibility
- Middle School teachers may apply.
- Program open only to US Citizens and Permanent Residents
Stipend
- $8,000 (for the combined program)
